Algarve is the place to be if you are a tourist, according to the regional tourist board, the RTA.
On Tuesday, the board dropped some interesting figures as far as the influxes of tourists were concerned. According to them, Algarve has seen 16.4 million individuals enjoying an overnight stay. Accommodation establishments are not the only places that have seen growth but also Faro Airport, which has had 6 million passengers pass through.
The president of the RTA, Desidério Silva, announced with confidence that he was expecting further growth for this year.
“It has been an effort by many people, but it must continue to be done,” he said.
Algarve has blown the British, Germans and Dutch out of the water with their numbers of overnight stays tallying up 5.1 million, 1.5 million and 1.3 million respectively.
