Lisbon football club Benfica seems poised to branch out into new fields of play as reports have emerged that the club will soon open its first themed hotel.
Shortly after having launched BTV – Benfica TV – Benfica chairman Luís Filipe Vieira has announced plans to expand in other areas such as radio, hospitality, and training centres. “The big projects for 2017: A high performance training centre, a hotel in downtown Lisbon, Radio Benfica, and expanding in Seixal”, Vieira said in an interview with sports newspaper
The chairman of the top-flight Lisbon team said “having noted a strong projection of our store in the centre of Lisbon, we are seriously thinking of building the first Benfica-themed hotel.”
The infrastructure will take advantage of “our historical building, and with a location of excellence in Rua Jardim do Regedor, at a time when Lisbon is in great growth as a key tourist destination.”
