The Blessing of the Fleet Festival took place on the Cape Town Waterfront during the weekend 7 and 8 October.
The Festival is organised annually by The Portuguese Cultural and Welfare Centre of Cape Town which along with other events serves promoted by the organization during the whole year is a fundraiser for charity activity.
The celebration involves countless Portuguese community members in the organisation, putting up tents and stalls, preparation the food and generous donations of most of the victuals.
The festival attracts hundreds of visitors every year and this year was no exception because attractions were many from live music to folklore exhibitions, spicy food or tasting what the best of Portuguese cuisine and regional Madeira treat gastronomy can offer, such as tuna rolls, calamares, espetadas, malasadas and bolos do caco.
The more formal part of programme took place on Sunday morning with the celebration of holy mass and the blessing of the fishing fleet, followed by the boat procession to the sea.
