It has not been an easy season for struggling Vasco da Gama. But the National First Division side are on the up after beating Santos recently.
Vasco CEO Edries Burton, one of Santos’ most famous and successful players of all time, believes the victory on the weekend could be a key turning point.
Under coach Sammy Troughton, Vasco have secured 5 points from their last three games.
“The recent win over Santos was very good for us. We really do need to secure a couple more wins so we can boost ourselves away from the relegation zone, Burton says.
“We not at full potential yet, but we have some very good young players coming through. Steven done Hoffman, for example, has done very well in goals and young Jamie Webber is a very good prospect.
“So our planning starts now for next season. Vasco has always been a club about passion. I am never short on that either. So as a leader here, I hope to cement that passion and desire amongst everyone at this club in the new season.”
Vasco are at home to Baroka FC this Saturday, 16 April.
