Are you ready to put pedal to the metal this weekend when the 38th annual Cape Town Cycling Tour kicks off?

The cycling experience will commence at the Civic Centre in the CBD and will see cyclists droning in at a staggering amount of 35 000 participants. Contenders will be coming from all over the globe and not only South Africa to take on the 109 kilometre challenge. This will see them undergo a circular route around the Cape Peninsula.

What participants and supporters should also bear in mind, is that this is year’s cycle tour is a ride of solidarity. This is a strong reminder of the brave men and women who have put their lives on the line to douse the relentless flames of Cape Town. Firemen and volunteers have worked around the clock in affected areas such as Hout Bay, Tokai Forest and Chapman’s Peak.

Speaking of which, will not be used in this year’s route. An alternative route to Chapman’s Peak has been decided by the City of Cape Town and other committee members involved in the organisation of the event.

The event has also taken the opportunity to raise money for those involved in the fight against the fire.
