Who says brains and brawn do not go hand in hand?
According to a study that was carried out in Finland, exercise proved to increase brain volume in certain areas.
The study was done on 10 pairs of twins who ranged from 32 to 36 years in age. One twin would be more active than the other and the results showed that the ones who exercised more gained more volume in certain areas of their brain as opposed to those who exercised less frequently.
The study had its boundaries as the twins that were used were all male and within a certain age bracket. This made the study more focused rather than broad.
It is still unknown what benefit the increased brain volume has but it is a fact that exercise improves memory.
