Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015

For those of you big sports fans out there I am sure you have heard that the Fifa Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015 is in full force with the Quarter Finals taking place today. For those of you not following the beach world cup, Portugal are battling in the quarter finals against Switzerland today.

These two teams have met to date, 30 times in cup competition so they are both very familiar with each other. Portugal do have an upper hand in the competition with 20 victories and 5 victories on the bounce. The most recent encounter came just a couple of weeks ago at the European Games in Baku and were decided by a one-goal margin.

The two team are more or less evenly matched, so this is a heavily anticipated match in Espinho.

You have to go back to June 2013 for the last Swiss win in the fixture, a 6-2 rout in the preliminary stages of the Euro Beach Soccer League.

But an interesting fact for the tournament is that Tahiti have scored 18 goals in their opening three group-stage matches making them the most prolific side at the tournament. Interestingly, these goals have been spread out among ten of the 12 squad members – including one of the goalkeepers!
