The movie, Fifty Shades of Grey has taken South African cinemas by storm over this past Valentine’s weekend.

While most eyes were glued on Jamie Doman (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele), little paid attention to the glory of the furniture in Grey’s apartment which echoed his lavish lifestyle.

The furniture used on set in the apartment actually came from four Portuguese furniture brands which fall under one umbrella. Delightfull, Brabbu, Boca do Lobo and Koket, which form part of the Menina Design group made their cinematic debut.

“The production of the film Fifty Shades of Grey sought our pieces of furniture for decoration of the film’s sets. One of our major goals is to raise the profile of Portuguese Design and show the world that Portugal is full of talent and culture,” said Dídia Sousa, of Boca do Lobo.

Some of the pieces included lamps, tables and sideboards.
