Gargling tips for sore throats

So, it’s that time of the year when we are hit with all kinds of infections. One of the most common happens to be that of a sore throat.

This irritation can be caused by either a viral or bacterial infection. When we do not have the occasional lozenge lying around to remedy the problem, we often resort to home remedies, of which gargling seems to be the most common.

The most popular of these happens to be gargling your throat with salt water but there are others which are just as effective.

Gargling with liquorice water is just as good to ease the throat and get rid of phlegm.

Another of these is to gargle with peppermint. I am sure you will agree that the menthol feel in one’s throat just does something and definitely helps with soothing the throat and opening the nasal passages.

If you are feeling a little brave, you can try some cayenne pepper in your water. Apparently, it’s the spicy burn of the powder that helps.

There are some myths out there to clear a throat, so do not try any of the following:

Swallowing a whole clove of garlic, tying a sock around your neck or swallow a lump of sugar.
