The City of Gold is gearing up for what is promised to be the best Lusito Land Festival ever. The Lusito Land 2015 Festival kicks off in Johannesburg this Friday, 24 April and will last until Sunday, 3 may.
Get your taste buds ready for some of the best Portuguese cuisine there is around as gates open to 160 000 visitors from all over South Africa and abroad. Garlic prawns, peri peri chicken and pregos are just a few of the dishes that you can experience at Lusito.
The Lusito Festival is closely tied to the Lusito Assocition and is the primary fundraiser for the organisation. The organisation was founded by two Portuguese parents in 1979 who felt that there was a need to have a school for differently abled children in the Portuguese community.
Today, the school is open to all children and not just the Portuguese community and helps children suffering with Cerebral Palsy, learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, Down’s Syndrome and other syndromes
