It has been a good weekend not only for Jari-Matti Latvala but also for the Volkswagen team as the Finnish driver managed to secure first place at the Rally Portugal.
It was a tough race this weekend as French driver, Sebastien Ogier put a lot of pressure on Latvala. On Friday morning, Latvala managed to take the lead. However, he still faced pressures from other racers on Saturday morning, such as Kris Meeke who won Rally Argentina. Before long, Ogier was hot on Latvala’s heels by the afternoon.
After winning the Portugal Rally, Latvala also gave credit to his Portuguese head mechanic, José Azevedo, on Twitter claiming that they have “something to celebrate”. All in all, Volkswagen reigned victorious as well as they managed to secure first, second and third place.
