Joburg woman killed in robbery

JOHANNESBURG – A Johannesburg business woman has been shot and killed in a robbery.

Gauteng police have confirmed one of the owners of the Rodizio restaurant was gunned down on the M2 highway towards Sandton last night.

It’s understood Celia da Costa was travelling with her employee when she was cornered by two unknown vehicles.

Police say the gunmen opened fire and fled the scene with some of her belongings.

The 49-year-old woman was rushed to hospital where she later died.

The police’s Kay Makhubela says, “They shot at the woman on the left side of the neck, opened the boot, took everything in the boot and drove off.”

Lusito Land’s Naomi Contente said, “As far as we know the lady was travelling on the M2 towards Sandton and she was hijacked near the building of Jan Forster Square, but on the highway.”

Organisers of the Lusito Land family festival in Rochelle, the south of Johannesburg have confirmed she was the wife of one of the restaurant owners operating from their premises.
