London better watch out as Lisbon seems to be gunning for its position in the quality of living index which is annually run by Mercer.
However, the capital city of Portugal has managed to shoot past other major cities such as New York, Milan, Tokyo and Madrid. This has bolstered Lisbon up the ranks to secure a spot at 41 on the list.
Keeping it local, cities such as Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban trailed further down on the list. Johannesburg at 94, Cape Town at 91 and Durban beating the City of Gold and the Mother City, claiming a spot at 85. Even though Durban had good quality housing and great recreational offerings, it was its crime rate that kept it from nearing the top 50 mark.
