Mamelodi Sundowns sign Brazilian Nascimento
Brazilian defender Ricardo Nascimento has joined Mamelodi Sundowns from Académica de Coimbra, a club relegated from the Portuguese Primera Liga.
Nascimento (29) has been signed in an attempt by coach Pitso Mosimane and his coaching staff to plug the hole left by captain Ramalhwe Mphahlele who moved to Kaizer Chiefs.
Nascimento arrived at Sundowns in June on a three-year contract.
The Brazilian was quoted in the news recently, saying: “I am very happy with this new challenge in my career. I was very excited to join Sundowns as soon as I learned about the club through my agent Marcelo Robalinho.
“The club has a structure of top quality and the chance to win the national championship, and also the compete in the African Champions League, attracted me a lot. I look forward to helping the team win these titles and I hope we are in the next Club World Cup,” he told Kick Off.
Nascimento has played in Portugal for Penafiel, Portimonense and Moreirense. At top-flight side Académica, he played 54 league games in two seasons.
