Maria Miguel Cardoso Carlos can feel awfully proud of herself for making it to the top. She has had the “Cambridge Top in the World” award bestowed upon her.
The high school student from Colégio Luso-Internacional do Centro in Marinha Grande managed to excel in the environmental studies category. This was after Maria had taken the Cambridge International Examinations which has more than 9000 schools participating in 160 countries.
The University of Cambridge, which is situated in the United Kingdom, distinguishes students with this award who have excelled in a single subject, setting a world standard.
Delilah Miguel, who is the school principal, acknowledged the award received by Maria and her academic dedication.
Maria is not the only one from Portugal to achieve this prestige as last year, Madalena Severino from Algarve received this award for the Cambridge IGCSE Foreign Language Portuguese examination.
