Vasco da Gama’s run of positive form came to a spectacular end this past weekend when Cape neighbours Milano United beat them 4-1 in the National First Division.
With one round of matches to go until the NFD season comes to a conclusion, Vasco are currently 12th with 30 points from 29 games played while Milano are 4th with 50 points from 29 matches.
Milano took the lead late in the first half when Brandon Theron scored from long range and they furthered their advantage 11 minutes after half time when veteran defender Nasief Morris buried a diving header.
Milano’s third goal arrived 18 minutes from time when Junaid Sait took advantage of a Vasco error before Gregory Roelf made it four, also from a defensive mistake.
Vasco can thank Stanley Muishond for putting away a spot kick in the 91st minute.
In other matches involving Cape sides, Santos beat Black Leopards 2-1 away from home, Cape Town All Stars drew 1-1 away at AmaZulu and FC Cape Town were beaten 4-1 at home by Mbombela United.
Vasco host Black Leopards in their final game of the season on Sunday at 3pm.
