Nedbank Cup journey ends for Vasco

Vasco da Gama are out of the Nedbank Cup after they lost 3-2 to Mbombela United in the preliminary round at Parow Park on Tuesday, 15 December.

It was 1-1 at halftime thanks to goals by Matthew Rowell (Vasco) and Cohen Stander (Mbombela). Then Vasco went ahead through Kirizestom Ntambi in the second half, but a double from substitute Bongani Ndhlovu saw Mbombela earn their way into the Last 32 stage of the Nedbank Cup.

Vasco losing at home was not the only surprise result. Mthatha Bucks brushed off their poor form in the league to beat Cape Town All Stars who are third on the NFD standings.

Bucks took the lead with only six minutes on the clock through Siphelele Jonasi and it was 2-0 just nine minutes later when veteran striker Moses Spandeel netted his fourth goal for the club this season.
