A golfer could not have asked for a better day and near perfect conditions at Erinvale Golf and Country Estate on Sunday, 6th December.
This Redskins outing proved to be one of the most significant final outings of the year in a long time as 9 players where in contention for the coveted Redskins Order of Merit competition.
Erinvale Golf and Country Estate showed off in all its splendour with the greens and fairways proving why they are amongst the best in South Africa. The competition for the day was Singles Stableford which was won by Anthony Moniz on a staggering 41 points. Richard Camara followed in second place on 40 points and Justin Roberts in third place on 39 points.
The longest drive for the day was no surprise with the Redskin’s biggest hitter, Marc de Freitas, clinching the accolade.
Nearest to the pins winners were:
Hole 2 – Paulo das Neves
Hole 8 – Miguel Paiva
Hole 12 – Manuel Branco
Hole 14 – Luis Paulo
Paulo das Neves clinched the Order of Merit title for 2015 with Ian Rothman missing out by a single shot.
The afternoon and round was concluded with prize giving at the beautiful clubhouse. Chairman of the Redskins, Richard Camara thanked the 40 players present for making it another enjoyable outing. He commended the course for being in great shape. He thanked his committee and all present for another successful year.
He mentioned that he felt Anthony Moniz beat him by a single shot due to the lessons he was giving Anthony on the driving range prior to tee off!
Prize giving was concluded and the members were reminded of the end of year function on the 10th December at Vasco da Gama Restaurant.
As I conclude my final article for the year on the Redskins, I ask that you keep Adelino “Uncle Adie” da Silva in your prayers. Adelino has been the President of the Redskins for several years and is currently undergoing serious health challenges.
