The first Porto Photography Festival – a week-long international festival event featuring renowned photographers, workshops, master-classes and exclusive dinners – will be hosted in Porto from 11-18 September.
Among the respected photographers who will be running the workshops and master- classes are John Stanmeyer, David Nightingale, Sara Lando, Pedro do Canto Brum, Cradoc Bagshaw and Frederico Martins.
Workshops will be run by photographers throughout the week in historic locations classified as UNESCO world heritage, in and around Porto, and are limited to 15 people per workshop, while a master-class for up to 200 people will be held in the central Porto area for 2-3 hours every evening of the week.
Every evening a dinner limited to five people will be held, providing an exclusive opportunity to chat to the photographers.
According to its organisers, the Porto Photo Fest is “a premier international photography festival which intersects art, business, and education in the historic and dynamic setting of Porto.
It is designed to enrich learning for all levels and disciplines of photography.”
Porto Mayor, Rui Moreira, said, for festival participants new to Porto, “The challenge will be to capture the soul of the city and resist the temptation of exploring each of its numerous corners and details.
“Besides having a very unique light, the city is an almost inexhaustible source of motifs well worth noting – from the sunrise to the sunset. Therefore, make the most of it”, he added.
