Portugal-bound midfielder Bongani Zungu has been ruled out of action for up to three months (12 weeks), according to his club Mamelodi Sundowns.
The deal for Zungu to move to Vitória Guimarães is signed and sealed, but the news comes as a massive blow for the Absa Premiership title-chasing Brazilians, who will have to do without one of their most influential players.
Zungu has a hairline fracture on the shin, which he picked up in Sundowns’ 3-2 win over Maritzburg United this past weekend. The club’s medical team have estimated that he will only be back on the playing field at the end of April.
Sundowns face Chippa United in a League clash at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville this evening.
