Portugal leads plant research

The study of plants, or botany as it’s more well known as, is not for everybody.

In Portugal however, they are taking the lead in some new studies which will be richly funded.

Portugal was given the opportunity to lead research into the reproduction of plants. This research will have a huge impact on the agricultural industry as it will focus on crop productivity.

The research team will consist out of an American-European group which will be funded by ERA-CAPS. ERA-CAPS, which supports the scientific research into plants, will be financing the research team with 2.6 million Euros over the course of three years.

Jörg Becker, who is the head researcher at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science will be coordinating the coordinating the research team.
