Portugal sets new record for Euro qualifiers

Portugal are on fire as the national football team are guaranteed a place in the Euro 2016 football tournament after beating Serbia last night 2 – 1 in a game that coach Fernando Santos described as a “difficult game”.

This puts them in a record breaking run with 7 straight wins in official games.

Portugal qualified at the top of their group with a comfortable seven point advantage.


The game started off well with Nani taking the first opportunity to give Portugal the lead after 5 mins. Serbia came back with unrelenting pressure but weren’t taking there chances.

At the 65min mark they finally got there equaliser but it was Portugal who would have the final say with substitute João Moutinho hitting one high into the net.

After the goal Serbia fell apart and had two men sent off with red cards.

Portugal were the victors and Euro 2016 was there prize.
