We all want a good wine and here in South Africa, we have no shortage thereof, with the vineyards of both Stellenbosch and Franschoek.
But this year, it seems like Portugal is picking up the pace as they have produced what is deemed as the best wine for 2014. The Dows Vintage, from 2011 harvest has taken its well deserved spot with a score of 99 points.
“The Symington family is the Douro’s biggest landowner and a reference for the region, with about 2,400 acres spread over 26 quintas. The Dow’s fermentation confers it a touch drier than other Symington Ports, with less residual sugar and compact tannins which support concentrated black fruit, chocolate and spice flavors and an almost endless finish”.
Sounds good, I will drink to that.
