Arguably the best player in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo now has a galaxy named after him after a lead Portuguese astronomer recently discovered a new galaxy. The CR7 galaxy is a collection of millions of stars.
The galaxy was named Cosmos Redshift 7 after the method used to date distant objects in the universe. But the astronomer confessed that this was also a nod to Ronaldo because he himself comes from the University of Lisbon, Portugal.
When asked about his compatriot astronomer deciding to name the new galaxy CR7, Ronaldo said he was feeling over-the-moon for the universal honour.
We all know Ronaldo stands out in the field and just like him the CR7 galaxy is a wonder in itself with the European Southern Observatory saying it is “an exceptionally rare object, by far the brightest galaxy ever observed at this stage in the Universe”.
