The government is currently in the process of drawing up plans to increase paternity leave.

The new legislation is expected to see fathers taking a compulsory 20 days off work, instead of the current figure of 15 days.

In addition, fathers will also be allowed to extend their paternity leave in the event of post-natal complications resulting in their offspring being hospitalised.
