Keeping in touch with your roots is vitally important, especially when you are Portuguese.
But for a Portuguese mother living in the heart of the United Kingdom, it was not that easy.
Being proudly Portuguese, Carla Cruz was trying to pass her heritage down to her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
She found that there were not as much Portuguese children’s books for her daughter. And bringing Portuguese books home seemed to pose its own problems of additional luggage weight.
Then, Carla decided to make contact with four publishers in Portugal and started her own virtual library for her daughter. Currently there are 16 books in the library, all of which are her choice.
“I chose the books I like, for the wonderful illustrations and unusual stories. Maybe it’s because I graduated in arts and I like things that are out of the ordinary,” she said.
The online store can be visited at www.miudabooks.co.uk and will be given exposure on Portuguese Day in June.
