It seems as though residents in Portugal are diminishing and that is due to the large amounts of immigration taking place.
According to a report issued by PORT.com, 110 000 Portuguese left the country in 2013 alone and that 20 percent of the population had migrated in the last decade. With Portugal’s last census, it was concluded that Portugal had a population of 10 560 000.
Of the 16 countries that Portuguese have moved to, 10 of them happened to be in Europe. The country that came in at number one for Portuguese immigrants was the United Kingdom with an amount of 30 121. The UK was followed by Switzerland (20 039) and France (18 000).
The country outside of Europe with the most Portuguese immigrants was the United States, which has the third largest amount of Portuguese in the world.
