We all admire true sportsmanship, which happens to be rare these days. But for Portuguese 7’s rugby player, João Bello.
Picture this, the Portugal is down and sitting with a dismal score of 0 while Fiji is leading with a score of 17. Fiji had given Portugal a real thrashing and they could really have used any advantage they could get.
In the second half of the game, Portugal finally got what they needed, one of the Fiji players got a yellow card and was ordered to leave the field by South African referee, Rasta Rasivhenge.
As the player leaves the field, the 19-year-old João steps in and tells the referee that it was not the Fijian fault but actually his.
This has shown that good sportsmanship still exists out there, well done João.
