Last week, Portuguese referee Paulo Paraty passed away. A very sad day for many, and at the next set of games all teams paid tribute to Paulo with the Minute Applause.
In the game between Boavista and União da Madeira fellow Premeira Liga ref, João Capela, sprayed the letters R.I.P. on the pitch during the applause. The referee blew his whistle again to signal the end of the applause and turned to embrace his linesmen.
This was an amazing sign of respect and just shows how this already amazing sport can bring everyone together. See the video below:
