Durbanville Golf Club was the venue for the October outing for the Redskins Golf Society of Cape Town.
As per usual the course and weather didn’t disappoint. With the exception of one or two hollow-tined greens the course was immaculate and didn’t play very long.
The outing was well attended by members with both the morning and afternoon fields being both well attended.
Sergio Pedro, Vice Chairman of the Redskins initiated prize giving. He thanked the course for hosting the group and thanked all members present for their participation.
The scores were once again ferocious and the winner of the Singles Stableford competition went to flamboyant musician and ex professional footballer, Pepe dos Santos. He won the competition on a staggering 43 points. He was followed in second place by another ex professional footballer, Manny Rodrigues on 39 points. Jorge Vinagre came third with 39 points.
There was a morning and afternoon field because of the annual Club Champs. Club Champs for the Redskins Golf Society of Cape Town is over 36 holes where players are seeded and placed, by their handicaps, in the A or B Division. There is an overall winner as well for the best net score. The results for this competition will be announced at their annual prize giving in December.
Chatting to Pepe later, I asked him if he shouldn’t have played golf earlier in his life and his response was simple, “Football is my life man!”
