Road to Russia 2018 revealed for Portugal

The road to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™ has been laid out for 141 teams from across the globe as St Petersburg’s Konstantin Palace hosted a dramatic and star-studded Preliminary Draw.

This draw saw over 94.8 million viewers tuned in to see who their country would need to compete against to qualify for the World Cup 2018.

The event hosted by Dmitry Shepelev and supermodel Natalia Vodianova, blended football with some of the best in Russian music and culture.

Over the course of the night the draw was made from each continent with some big names being drawn in the same group. Maybe two of the biggest names in Football have been drawn together, ie Brazil versus the Copa America champions, Chile.

Some of the other big clashes saw teams such as USA paired with Mexico, Spain paired with Italy and France paired with the Netherlands.

Portugal was drawn in Group B with relatively “easy” opponents to combat in order to qualify for the World Cup.

Group B included: Portugal, Switzerland, Hungary, Faroe Islands, Latvia and Andorra.

So with the stage set and the hype started we can’t wait to see the teams to qualify for the Russian World Cup.

Here we have added an image of the previous hosts and World Cup winners since 1930 to 2014. Enjoy!
