It doesn’t look like it’s going to be a good year for some fishermen later this year in Portugal, sardine fishermen to be exact.
Fishing seems to be one of Portugal’s biggest trades and to avoid over fishing, some sardine fishermen will have to remain grounded for about two months.
Unfortunately, the number of fishermen who will be affected by this set back tallies up to be a hefty 2500.
The fishing restriction takes place between March and May and fishermen will have to wait for about two months before they can earn an income. The saddest part must be that these fishermen will not be getting any governmental subsidies for being laid off from work during this period.
