Bongani Zungu getting ready for Portugal Life

Bongani Zungu the ex Mamelodi Sundowns star is readying himself for life in Portugal he will be joining Vitoria Guamares next season.

Zungu who joined Mamelodi Sundowns in 2013 from cross town rivals University of Pretoria, won four titles during his spell at Chloorkoop.

The Vitoria Guamares bound midfielder says he wants to help his Portuguese side achieve major things.

“The team qualified for the Europa League last season, but this season they did not have a good run in the league. I am hoping I can take the team high again because the fans have high hopes for the club.”

Ben 10 is well aware of what to expect in Portugal as he has been researching about their league.

“It’s a challenge for me, but I hope I can help them get a spot in the Europa League. Who knows, we can qualify for the Champions League because it’s possible. I will be playing against some of the best teams in the world, including Benfica and FC Porto, but I am teady and looking forward to it,” he said.

“I signed a short term contract hoping that I will move on from them. Even the club told me straight up that they are signing and they want to sell me in future.

“I am focusing on the bigger dream. The dream is playing in the Champions League, the bigger dream is to be like Benni McCarthy and Lucas Radebe.

“I am trying to be mentally fit for Portugal. I am ready because this did not come as a surprise. I knew I was going to leave Sundowns. My departure from my former club is bittersweet, but I am ready for a new challenge.”
