Could Eric Tinkler be lost to Orlando Pirates with a move to Portugal on the cards?
The under fire head coach of Pirates will be hoping Bucs can beat SuperSport United in this weekend’s Nedbank Cup final. But even if he does win silverware, the hardcore critics will point to a loss in the CAF Confederation Cup final and a 7th place finish in the Absa Premiership as sore points.
News coming out of Portugal is that a Portuguese Primeira Liga outfit are interested in the services of Tinkler and it is none other than Vitoria Setubal who Tinkler once played for.
As a player for Vitoria de Setubal, Tinkler made over 80 appearances for the club between 1992 and 1996 during the prime of his playing career, when he was also a member of Bafana Bafana’s Class of ’96.
Setubal recently ended their working relationship with head coach Quim Machado and are now looking for a replacement ahead of the new season.
According to Portugal’s zerozero, the club has already contacted Tinkler to see if he is available to take over.
