National First Division teams Vasco Da Gama and Milano United drew 1-1 in a typically-physical Mother City derby at Parow Park on the weekend.
The result sees Vasco remain in 9th spot on the 16-team NFD table with 29 points while Milano are in fifth position.
Stanley Muishond gave Vasco the lead on 31 minutes, but ex-Vasco player Theo Hempe’s men drew level just after the hour mark through an own goal by Ndiviwe Mdabuka who headed into his own net while trying to clear a free kick.
KZN clubs Golden Arrows and Thanda Royal Zulu are steaming ahead at the top of the table with Shaun Bartlett’s Arrows out in front with 44 points.
Arrows recorded a 2-0 away win over Garankuwa United at Pilditch Stadium on Saturday, with Andile Fikizolo and veteran striker Mabhuti Khenyeza scoring the goals for Shaun Bartlett’s side.
Thanda Royal Zulu moved into second spot on the log thanks to a 3-1 home win over Cape Town All Stars.
The NFD will go on a break until the first weekend of April due to the last 16 round of the Nedbank Cup and the impending FIFA international dates.
