2014/15 Premier Soccer League preview
Greetings 🙂 , our local professional league kicks off this evening with defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns taking on Maritzburg United in Pretoria. Are we in for another nail-biting end to the season as last , after only two points separated Sundowns from second-placed Kaizer Chiefs?
Big spenders ,Sundowns remained very active in the transfer window, with coach Pitso Mosimane planning an African Champions League assault together with dominating the local scene on his agenda. Kaizer Chiefs in the mean time have bought sparingly , while fans favourite Knowledge Musona return from Hoffenheim is still on the cards before the end of the transfer window.
Gavin Hunt’s debut season at Bidvest Wits brought a 3rd place and he will certainly be looking to improve on that together with some Cup silverware. Orlando Pirates have recruited Issa Sarr , looking to fill the void left , since the departure of Andile Jali to Belgium. Cavin Johnson leads Supersport United again , with having to improve on his fifth place last season to avoid further pressure from the board of this ambitious Club.
Bloemfontein Celtic start this current campaign under new ownership , while last seasons 7th place finishers , Black Aces have acquired new sponsorship in the form of Japanese philanthropist , Dr Handa and ISPS Handa ( set up in 2006 to support charitable causes through sport ).
Cape Towns only representative in the upper tier of professional football, Ajax Cape Town are still without a sponsor , and will be looking to hold onto last seasons key member , Keegan Dolly who has been on the wanted list of the big three. Roger de Sa was a fantastic acquisition for the club last season and after consolidating the clubs presence , look forward to an improvement of last seasons 12th place finish.
Ex – Cape Town based club and promoted back into the PSL this season , Chippa United will want to see their extensive investment and location move to Port Elizabeth pay off , which could see the Chilli Boys stay up this season, avoiding the relegation zone again.
Moroka Swallows ,and Polokwane City will have the hardest task of all Premiership teams , following the departure of a number of key players to other clubs. Africa’s most professional and most watched league is about to commence …enjoy the Super Diski !

Siphelelele Mthembu – Platinum Stars to Kaizer Chiefs
Buhle Mkwanazi – Tuks to Wits

Finally my predictions for the upcoming season –
