A South African youngster was transfered to Vitória at the start of this season and already Thibang Phete is being praised for his outstanding performances in the middle of the park. He is edging ever closer to making his first appearance for the first side.
Currently though he is playing for the club’s second team who play in the second tier of the country’s football. Already making 8 appearances for the team, he has become a regular for Vitória Guimarães this season.
At only 21 years of age Phete who started his senior career in National First Division side Milano United in the 2013/14 season has a bright future ahead of him being so young.
Phete is another product of Farouk Khan’s Stars of Africa Academy, along with the likes of May Mahlangu, Tokelo Rantie and Sibusiso Khumalo.
Phete signed for Vitória from third-tier Tourizense at the start of this season having been one of five South Africans playing at the club in the last campaign.
Pule Maraisane has since moved on to the Swedish second-tier with GAIS, but others who were there are defender Thamsanqa Ngobeza, and midfielders Tshepo Matsemela and Tlotlo Leepile.
