A point earned from their goalless draw with Mbombela United saw Vasco da Gama move up to 13th position on the National First Division table.
The Mother City side now have 19 points from 22 games. Below them are Mthatha Bucks (18 points), African Warriors (18) and Moroka Swallows (11).
Considering that Mbombela are a Top 6 team this season, the draw can be considered a good result for struggling Vasco. But other struggling teams below Vasco on the log also picked up a point this weekend; Mthatha Bucks drew with Santos while Black Leopards were held 1-1 at Thohoyandou Stadium by bottom-of-the-log Moroka Swallows.
Meanwhile log leaders Baroka FC remain top of the 2015/16 National First Division table even though they were made to work hard for their 1-0 win at AmaZulu on Sunday.
Cape Town’s best performing side in the NFD continues to be Milano United. They are now in 4th position thanks to a 2-0 home win over African Warriors.
The next round of NFD fixtures – Round 23 – will be played on the weekend of March 18-20. Vasco da Gama host Mthatha Bucks at Parow Park on Saturday and will be hoping for a win at home.
