Another NFD year kicked off this Saturday with Vasco Da Gama playing against newly promoted Mthatha Bucks away from home.
In what was a thrilling encounter with a red card, goals from both teams and a great atmosphere the end score saw a 1 – 1 draw between the two sides, which many would have seen as a fair result.
Vasco Da Gama looked the better side in the first half with Mthatha on the back foot for most of the game. Halfway through the first half Vasco took the lead with a first half strike from Jonathan Armogam who took his chance from a through ball by Ritchie Sebastiao.
But in the second half it looked like the roles had reversed after Vasco gave away a penalty and getting a player sent off. Nkane Zwane from Mthatha calmly slotted away from the spot, and from that point on the game was a nail biter with fans sitting on the edge of their seats until the final whistle blew.
Next up Vasco will play their first home game of the season this Saturday with a visit from Santos. Kickoff is at 15:00.
