Vasco end season in style

Vasco da Gama ended their National First Division season in style with a 1-0 victory over Mother City rivals Santos over the weekend.

Mbulelo Wambi scored the winner from the penalty spot in the first half after Sachin Dawood was adjudged to have fouled Thabani Mthembu inside the 18 area.

The 2014/15 National First Division season came to a conclusion on Sunday afternoon as champions Golden Arrows wrapped up their campaign with a victory, while Jomo Cosmos and Black Leopards secured their promotion playoff spots.

Vasco ended in 7th position on the NFD log with 42 points from their 30 League games. Ten wins, 12 draws and 8 losses summarise the Parow club’s season.

Champions Arrows, from KZN, ended the season on a high with a 2-1 win at Highlands Park thanks to goals from Sibusiso Sibeko and Prince Nxumalo.

Jomo Cosmos secured second place on the log with a 2-0 win away to Cape Town All Stars, ending their opponent’s hopes of earning a playoff place. E

Meanwhile Black Leopards secured third on the NFD log with a 2-0 home victory over African Warriors.
