Under normal circumstances a draw away at Thanda Royal Zulu would be a good result, but struggling Vasco da Gama are in need of victories and after the point in KZN, still remain in 12th place on the National First Division table.
The Mother City side have now played 16 games, winning just 3 with 6 draws and 7 losses. They have scored 13 goals all season, which is the fourth lowest in the 16-team league.
Saturday’s draw at Thanda saw Vasco earn their first point of 2016. Thanda have never lost at home to Vasco and for both sides, the point does see them create a bit of daylight between themselves and the bottom two sides on the log.
Meanwhile Baroka FC extended their lead at the top of the table to five points thanks to a 1-0 home win over Mthatha Bucks on Saturday. The result came in the wake of second-placed Cape Town All Stars falling to a 2-0 defeat in a derby clash with Milano United on Wednesday.
Round 17 of the NFD starts this Wednesday when Santos and Milano United meet at Athlone Stadium, while Witbank Spurs and Mthatha Bucks clash in Mpumalanga.
Vasco will host African Warriors at Parow Park on Saturday, 30 January at 15h30.
