Vasco earn point at Thanda – Vasco da Gama’s winning start to the National First Division season came to end with a 0-0 draw away at Thanda Royal Zulu on Saturday.
The point earned, however, means that Vasco recorded their first ever point against KZN side Thanda in Richards Bay. The Cape Town club’s previous three visits to the KZN north coast have all ended in defeat.
“We played well and had two very good chances to score in the first half. In the second half, they (Thanda) came back a little bit, but overall I thought our boys did a good job,” says Danleigh Borman.
“I thought Mbulelo Wambi did well for us and also our young centre back Rafiq de Goede. Also, Steven Hoffman has now kept a clean sheet in goal for all our matches.
“We just want to keep working hard and doing the right things, like we have been doing.”
Vasco are placed third on the NFD table with seven points from three games. FC Cape Town are on top with 8 points.
Thanda have drawn all three matches so far this season, while Vasco dropped points for the first time in this campaign.
Vasco host Cape Town All Stars in an exciting Cape derby on Sunday, 21 September at 3pm.
