National First Division team Vasco da Gama are through to the next round of South Africa’s Nedbank Cup.
The Cape Town club won their last 32 round tie over the weekend 3-2, beating Winners Park away from home in what will go down as a very good result.
Central defender Rafiq de Goede had to miss the cup tie due to suspension, but shared his feelings on the club’s progress.
“It is good to be in the next round of the Nedbank. We have picked up a few wins now and this is good for our progress,” he said.
Vasco turn their eyes towards their NFD League fixture against Cape Town All Stars this Friday afternoon.
“It is a Cape derby so we know how tough it will be. But we have been working hard and I am happy to be able to make the squad again and hopefully play,” De Goede says.
“We have had some good results and our focus now is on getting more points in the league race.”
The last 32 round of the Nedbank Cup will wrap up this Wednesday evening with two all-PSL clashes. University of Pretoria host Moroka Swallows, and SuperSport United entertain Polokwane City.
The very next day, the draw for the last 16 pairings will be made in Johannesburg.
