De Nobrega and Kesch in Portugal

The coaching team of Vasco da Gama’s national first division side are currently in Portugal spending two weeks working with the coaches of their partner club Vitoria Guimaraes.

Tony de Nobrega and his assistant Keenin Lesch will spend two weeks in Portugal and will work with the first team coaching staff as well as the reserve side in an effort to share knowledge and grow their own coaching skills.

This was always going to be part of the plan when the Portuguese top-flight outfit partnered with Vasco da Gama, following Mario Ferreira’s purchase of the Cape Town outfit at the start of this season.

While De Nobrega and Lesch are abroad, the coaching of Vasco da Gama will be left to Noel Cousins, a former professional striker at Moroka Swallows who has a long career in coaching, especially in the youth academy sector.

Cousins is a coach at Stellenbosch University Football and will bring something of his own fresh approach to the NFD side while their coaches are away.

Cousins will not be alone, however, as Roscoe Krieling joins him along with Warren Engelbrecht whose expertise are in the Sports Science field. The coaching team, all from Stellenbosch University, say they are looking forward to working with Vasco and imparting some ideas during this two week period.

Vasco have a massive game on Wednesday evening as they face rivals Santos FC.
