Vasco da Gama will look to bounce back after their recent defeat when they host Maluti FET College this weekend in their final NFD game of the year.
Vasco lost 1-0 to Santos last weekend and slipped to position ten on the National First Division (NFD) log. Tony de Nobrega’s men host Maluti at 15h30 on Saturday at Parow Park.
Maluti are bottom of the NFD log so in theory Vasco should win this match, but there are never any guarantees in football are there?
“It is not going to be easy because our opponents are right at the bottom and in need of points,” said Vasco defender Rafiq de Goede.
“We have not won for a while so we really want to win this game and end the year strong. It was disappointing to lose to Santos in our last game.
“We dominated for periods in the game but could turn the ball into the net. So, this weekend we need to score the goals.”
De Goede has been one of Vasco’s better performers this season, having made a successful jump from the SAB League (fourth division) to South Africa’s second tier, the National First Division.
