Waterloo wine on auction

Waterloo wine on auction

One of the most iconic battles to ever take place in history happened 200 years ago this year.

If your calculations are in check then you would have worked out that the Battle of Waterloo took place in 1815. This, as you know, is the battle where Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated.

To mark this bicentennial occasion, a bottle of Port wine which was bottled in that year will be auctioned off in Sotheby, London.

This bottle, which is one of the oldest bottles to be auctioned comes from the Porto Ferreira House and is known as the Waterloo Port, because of the year it was bottled.

The proceeds from the auction will be going to the Portuguese Association of Lateral Amyotrophic Sclerosis.
