Miss Universe 2017, the 66th Miss Universe pageant, was held at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States, on Sunday night.
Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa was crowned Miss Universe 2017 last Sunday, edging out 90 other contestants to win the top prize.
Demi, 22, who completed a B Com in Business Management and Entrepreneurship and is also part time model, comes from the small town of Sedgfield in the Western Cape.
Growing in the Garden Route, Demi loves spending time outdoors, enjoying trail runs, hiking and road races.
Reading is also one of her favourite pastimes, she was recently reading the Brazilian author Paulo Coelho.
Demi also likes to make handmade cards for friends and family.
As for music she is a big fan of Enya and Taylor Swift, but she also likes to listen to classical music to improve her concentration while studying.
She has won other beauty competitions in south Africa, prior to this great American accolade, such as Miss Teen SA 2010, Miss Diaz 2012 and Miss Varsity Cup.
