Whale wash up in Portugal

There seems to be a strange phenomenon happening off the coasts of America and Europe lately.

In Half Moon Bay a 40-foot carcass of a gray whale appeared to be washed up on the Californian beach. According to Damien Jones, a Californian State Parks Ranger, the body of the whale had been there for a while as it was decomposing already.  It was unlikely that the whale had been killed by some kind of trauma, such as being hit by a ship.

In Portugal, another gray whale had washed up on shore, this time on the Sonoma Coast. It is believed that the 28-foot whale had washed up during the course of Friday night or Saturday morning. The whale was discovered towards the close of the migration period.
