Teens will be sharpening their Olympic skills as the World Youth Island Games for this year are just around the corner.
This year’s event is expected to take place in the city of Angra do Heroísmo, Terceira, Azores from 27 May to 31 May.
The organisers of the event, which is the Azores government and the ‘Comité d´Organisation Jeux des Iles’ are expecting a total of about 400 athletes to pitch at the games. The participants who are aged between 12 and 16 years of age will be representing Cape Verde, Corsica, Martinique, Sicily, Sardinia, Elbe and the Azores. There will also be nine different sporting events taking place which include track and field, judo, tennis, swimming, table tennis, sailing, volleyball, football, and rugby.
This is the third time that the international competition will be held in the Azores since it first started in 1997
